TMB wins the DUN & BRADSTREET - India's Top Banks 2009 Award

Dun & Bradstreet is the world's leading provider of global business information, knowledge and insight. They have announced the "Dun & Bradstreet's - Banking Awards India's Top Banks 2009". Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited, a Leading old private sector bank has been awarded with the "Dun & Bradstreet's - Banking Awards India's Top Banks 2009" for the category of Rural Reach among the private Sector banks.

The parameters considered based on the performance of Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks and Foreign Banks for the awards are:

• Rural Reach
• Private Sector Lending with financial inclusion
• SME Financing
• Best Bank

As reported by Dun & Bradstreet, the information and statistics for assessing the banks for awards has been collected from all the 77 Scheduled Commercial Banks in India consisting of 27 Public Sector Banks, 22 Private Sector Banks and 28 Foreign Banks for selecting the banking awards. The information has been collected from RBI documents and annual reports of the banks.

Among the six categories, Tamilnad Mercantile bank has been awarded with Dun & Bradstreet's - Banking Awards India's Top Banks 2009 for the category of Rural Reach among the Private Sector Banks. Our vibrant and dynamic Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shri G. Narayana Moorthy has received the award in the grand function arranged by Dun & Bradstreet on 18.02.2009 at Hotel J W Marriott in Mumbai.

At the awards ceremony, our Managing Director & CEO Shri G. Narayana Moorthy, said that TMB has been honoured with the "Dun & Bradstreet - Banking Awards 2009 - Rural Reach" among the Private Sector Banks in recognition of our extended best services to Rural Public. The Services of Two Mobile Branch Banking units in Thoothukudi and Valliyoor are a landmark in our bank's history in serving to the 16 villages of rural public on their village itself. We have planned to add many more Mobile Branch Banking Units in other rural centres in the coming years. Further, the bank is keen to start "Financial Literacy and Counseling Centre" for the benefit of the rural poor.

Our bank will continue to lay emphasis on Rural Finance, Trade Advance and Micro Finance which has been our strength in the past and we would like to take it forward by way of aggressive branch expansion in un-banked and under-banked rural India which we view as a big opportunity.
